About Anna

You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them.       -Desmond Tutu

I am the first born daughter of fraternal triplets. My sister, brother, and I grew up in Roswell, Georgia with our parents, Charles and Erin. I would not be where I am today without the love and support of my family. Our parents always encouraged us to be respectful of everyone, to present ourselves well, and to strive to do our best in everything we do. Embodying that mindset has opened many doors on the road to my success.

I chose to pursue a career in nutrition and dietetics because of my love for food and athletics. My mom is also a Registered Dietitian. Growing up, I often enjoyed helping my mom cook dinner. I found that cooking brought me a sense of satisfaction, and that I enjoy bringing friends and family together through the food I cook. After discussing this love for food and cooking with my mom, I decided I wanted to learn more about what dietetics was all about. I was happy to discover that I could actually pursue a degree career in one of my areas of passion.

Another thing I am passionate about is sports and athletics.  I played softball all four years of high school, including travel softball during the off seasons. From a young age, I enjoyed playing many different parks and recreation sports such as t-ball, baseball, soccer, and basketball. In college, I participated in all of the intramural sports, and played on championship teams. I find that competing in sports is a way to clear my head and relieve stress while doing what I love.

I also enjoy community service, helping others, and seeing their faces light up. In high school I was in the Habitat for Humanity club, and helped build houses for families who were less fortunate than me. It was really heart-warming to meet the family who was getting the house. I also participated in many service projects as an active member of student council and girl scouts.

I started my college career at Georgia State University, in Atlanta, Georgia. I then transferred to the University of Montevallo, in Alabama, at the beginning of my second year. I choose to attend the University of Montevallo, because of its coordinated bachelor’s program in dietetics. The completion of the undergraduate program includes my internship and enables me to sit for the RD exam upon graduation. This will allow me the opportunity to work as an RDN before choosing a master’s program that is specific to the career I want to pursue.

At Montevallo, my upper level classes had fewer students, and I was able to get to know my professors very well. Having small size classes, allowed my fellow classmates and I were able to incorporate more discussions and project presentations into our classes.

I graduated from the University of Montevallo with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Nutrition & Wellness. I completed my dietetic internships in Metro Atlanta and passed the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist exam in 2019.
